CFS Outlook October 15th 2008

The latest CFS 2-meter temperature forecast anomaly. When compared to the model run on the 1st of October this image shows some striking similarities and some striking differences. Notice that the model continues to emphasize a colder than normal start to the winter. The 3 month period of October, November and December, along with the 3 month period of November, December and January both show noticeably colder than normal temperatures for much of the northern and eastern half of North America. However, on this run, the model is showing a turn to milder weather here in New England during the second half of the winter and into the spring - with colder than normal weather persisting across western Canada and Alaska.
