Not As Bad As Expected
Saturday May 10, 2008 09:03 AM

The heaviest precipitation with the Friday/Friday Night storm system remained a bit further south than forecast - with amounts of 2"+ staying south of Cape Cod and the Islands. Most of the Cape picked up around 1 inch of rain, with Nantucket coming in at closer to 1.5". Notice on the Cape Cod Weather.Net Estimated Precipitation Storm Totals, the yellow shading - corresponding to 2" of rain - is well south of Nantucket.
The storm center jogged a bit further south and was slightly delayed in organizing, keeping the heaviest precipitation south and east of the region. Conditions were far worse on Nantucket - where winds were sustained at over 30mph for much of the night - than they were across all of the Cape. The good news is, this should lead to a quicker improvement during Saturday afternoon. The bad news is, another storm is lurking for Monday.
