Tropics Quiet. For Now...
Friday September 19, 2008 06:31 AM
While activity in the tropics has diminished considerably compared with 7 to 10 days ago, there is still plenty of time left for the Atlantic to get active once again. One area to watch over the next 5 to 7 days will be the waters east of the Carolinas and Georgia. Strong high pressure over New England will help pile up tropical air and moisture along the Southeast US coast right into the middle of next week, perhaps aiding in the formation of a low pressure system.
In fact, some computer guidance, including the European Model (ECMWF) as shown here, wrap this system up and develop a subtropical low pressure and track it into the Carolinas and/or up the coast. There's still plenty of time to monitor this region and CapeCodWeather.Net will have updates should something develop. For now, it's high and dry over the region. - image courtesy ECMWF and College of Dupage.
