Coastal Storm Moving Northward
Wednesday November 5, 2008 07:05 AM

This radar and satellite composite, with a surface pressure overlay, shows a well-developed coastal storm along the Eastern Seaboard. The system is beginning to take on the classic look of an east coast storm center, with a well-defined cloud pattern and comma-shaped precipitation shield. Over the course of the day today, this storm center will lift northward, eventually pinwheeling its rain band north and westward from the Atlantic and toward the Cape - setting us up for a windy and wet Wednesday Night. Over an inch of rain is expected tonight and wind gusts to 40 mph are possible in some spots. Thankfully, the heaviest and steadiest rain will fall tonight. Thursday, while not an ideal weather day, will just feature some scattered showers and some pockets of fog and drizzle as the occluded storm slowly drifts eastward and away from the coast.
