What is that?

Thursday November 6, 2008 07:24 AM

As mentioned earlier in the week, the coastal storm that is affecting us has developed some hybrid warm core vs. cold core characteristics. This morning visible satellite image from Thursday clearly shows the very well-developed low level circulation with the coastal storm. Notice an eye-like feature present just east of the Delmarva Peninsula. While the storm formed over water that was under the required 26°C level for true tropical characteristics, it has fed off the warm waters of the Gulf Stream and acquired some subtle tropical-like features.
